Well, this is a day late for the WOYWW post, but here it is anyway:
This picture is actually symbolic as it shows how my patchwork has overtaken my papercrafts! If you’re not a quilter, this project is a cushion cover for what we call in the US a “throw pillow”, those little cushions that litter (for lack of a better word) the sofa. Last time I posted about rearranging my craft room, so this is one section of the new U-shape. If you turn around 180 degrees, this is that work desk:
Of course, that’s not to say I’ve given up my scrapbooking and card making. Oh, no…. I just haven’t been able to finish any of these projects. I started a scrapbook page at my local crop of my little grand-daughter’s first visit to an aquarium. After staring at it for a week, I threw it in the bin and started over, but although I like the new layout more, it still is unfinished:
I need a title (I’m thinking of something like “Through the Eyes of a Child” or perhaps just one word “Wonder”) and some journaling and just something else. I’m thrilled with the paper, however (can’t remember the manufacturer). It’s stunning and just perfect for these photos. My daughter took them (except the one of her in the bottom left photo), which I think are amazingly beautiful. I love the intense look on little Catherine’s face. Speaking of unfinished projects, I started a small 8x8” album for her that is still unfinished and I also have a birthday card to make for a friend this month, so I’m going to have to put aside the sewing for a bit and change gears.
On top of everything else, this month at my little local crop, we’re going to do some knitting instead of scrapbooking or making cards. Well, never let it be said I’m a one-horse act! Really, I just love crafts of all kinds and feel so privileged to be able to indulge in pastimes I love. For decades I worked at various jobs, sometimes two at a time, went back to university and finished my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and never had the time or money for a hobby of any sort. I don’t think now that I have the patience or the eyesight left to do needlework, like cross-stitch, or beading, although I do like looking at these things.
And next month we are actually going to have a craft show in Kent! I didn’t know that anyone ever knew we existed down here….. but 2-5 of February the International Craft and Hobby Fair will be near here for the first time. I can’t tell you how excited we are! They’re going to have vendors from scrapbooking to knitting to beads to quilting and sewing, all under one roof! Not only that, but the costumes from the popular period drama “Downton Abbey” are going to be displayed. Ooh, I might have to spread myself over a couple of days to get it all in!!!

I love the patchwork you're working on - I just don't have the patience for that, I'm afraid, so always admire people who do!! I followed the link on your last blog to the tutorial on how to make the pocket tissues cover. Well, how easy was that, thank you so much!! I shall try to remember to photograph it and put it up on next week's WOYWW.
That aquarium LO is beautiful, the paper is lovely and the photos capture that sense of wonder that small children show when they see the magical underwater world.
Happy New Year!
Hugs, LLJ #33 xx
I know what you mean about time!Hope you manage to fit it all in.
That's an exciting range of projects as well as a fair to go to. Perhaps you'll find a way of combining all these great hobby skills!
love the patchwork you are working on. I've been thinking of getting into the quilting but haven't yet. love the LO--paper is beautiful and perfect.
seems like patchwork is very trendy just now-well done for having the patience!!
Hello I have a lot of projects on the go and would just like more time. Shouldn't be on here really but decided to visit everyone this week. Love the page with the aquariam photos on- lovely paper. I always had a fancy to try patchwork quilting but I daren't start another hobby. Have a Happy and Creative 2012. Anne x
Love the quilting you're doing and the layout. I do find that sometimes my crochet takes over from my card making so Ii can understand the quilting taking over!
Your patchwork is lovely....you are one busy and talented woman...have a very creative 2012. Enjoy the craft faire
The page in progress is lovely. The paper has its own ornamentation, so I think you've got it just right to keep the rest simpler.
I love to do a bit of patchwork and sewing as well as papercrafts too. How about 'just looking' as a title for your scrapbook page (I scrapbook too)!
