It’s Nearly Here!

Yessiree, Christmas is nearly here. Only a few more days, then we have the “let down”…. presents opened, leftovers in the fridge, family gone home, lots of debris (wrapping paper, ribbons, cards, etc.) to dispose of, and a chance to put our feet up and have a little afternoon snooze in the recliner in front of the television. Ah well…..

Yesterday was our Christmas “party” at my local “crop”. Actually I don’t think I can call it a crop anymore. We used to just do scrapbooking and occasionally card-making, but now everyone has branched out: knitting, beading, quilting, sewing, or whatever. There are six of us and we just love getting together for the social side of things once each month. We’ve been doing it for a few years now, so we’re pretty well informed of each other’s husbands, children, home life or whatever. It’s a very special group for me. So yesterday we had our “Secret Santa” gift exchange and lots of yummy nibbles to eat. For a change, I was actually productive at the crop!

I made three Christmas tag for my husband’s Christmas gifts and his Christmas card.

As little gifts for my friends, I brought some little tissue holders that I had made and they seemed to like them. As they’re very simple to make, they’re perfect for little gifts or for making for handcraft bazaars.

You can search the Internet for “tissue holder” and find all kinds of pictures and tutorials, but I thought I’d give you mine, too. It’s on my new sewing-quilting blog at “Cut the Scraps!” … I thought it might be overkill to post in both blogs.

Since today is What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW), I have a photo of what my desk looks like today:

As you can see, it’s a disaster area. What you can’t see (thankfully) is that the entire room is a mess with sacks of batting, boxes of fabric, new magazines on the floor, and just general chaos. Well, I suppose that shows I’ve really been busy.

On top of everything else, I fell (again) two days in a row so I’m hobbling around with bruised knees and sore ribs. When I was a kid, my dad used to say I could trip over a matchstick. He was right…. but actually, it doesn’t even have to be a matchstick. I can sometimes be standing still and whoooosh, my dodgy knees just give way. Anyway, my hobbling and sore ribs give me an excuse (as if I need one) to let the housework go today. Hubby is out all day and his last words were “Just sit in the recliner and don’t go out”. Sounds good to me!

Welcome to WOYWW! Your little kleenex holders look so nice - who wouldn't love one for a gift, especially this time of year.

The tags and card look great too. I haven't made any tags before but I do have a supply waiting to be used.

Happy WOYWW #82 (yes, since I'm at the bottom I start at the bottom!!!)

I like your turnstile organizer thingy on your desk, but wonder if you turn it abruptly do the bottles on top go flying?
